There are plenty of stories out there on Halloween candy, costumes, and decorations . . . but here are a few of the STRANGEST stories floating around:

1.  In a new Buzzfeed poll, people were asked what their favorite part of Halloween is, and 2% of people said it was . . . “Pumpkin-shaped bath bombs.”  (???)  The #1 answer was decorations (50%), followed by candy (25%).

2.  The potato company “Potatoes USA” claims people have started a new tradition of handing out POTATOES for Halloween instead of candy.  What a convenient turn of events for them!

Some people, like a guy known as “The Potato Man” in Pennsylvania, started doing it as a joke and it caught on . . . and others have picked up on it.  There are also people who hand out potato chips as an alternative to candy for a more savory option.

(Not that it’s any healthier, in that case.)

3.  A neighborhood in the Michigan city of Wyandotte has canceled Halloween trick-or-treating . . . because of a MASSIVE roach infestation.  The city says it’s not their fault.

They just discovered a roach problem in an abandoned house that’s SO INTENSE that they need to keep people from walking through the neighborhood “to prevent further roach migration . . . [by roaches] grabbing on to kids’ costumes.”

There was also concern that even if the trick-or-treaters were to kill some of the roaches by stepping on them, their eggs could survive and be tracked all over the neighborhood.  (???)

(Hey, if you’re going to cancel trick-or-treating, it might as well be for a TERRIFYING reason.)

4.  A 31-year-old man in California named Dominic Salazar was arrested for drunken disorderly conduct early yesterday morning . . . and he was dressed up as a bottle of Fireball Cinnamon Whisky at the time.  It’s a Halloween costume, obviously.

(Here’s his booking photo.)
