Beyond Meat is selling its new FAKE STEAK at 5,000 grocery stores across the country.  It’s called Beyond Steak, and they started rolling it out yesterday.  But will the 70% of Americans who love the real thing even try it?

Seven in ten people say real steak is one of their favorite foods, according to a new survey.  That includes 75% of men and 65% of women.

But this might be our favorite part of the poll:  If you order a steak well done on a first date . . . and you put KETCHUP on it . . . you might not get a second date.

34% of people say they’d judge their date if they ordered a steak well done.  And 42% would judge them even more if they put ketchup on it.  Here are a few more all-American steak stats . . .

1.  Our five favorite cuts of steak, in order, are:  Ribeye, filet mignon, T-bone, New York strip, and porterhouse.

2.  Our favorite steak sauce is A.1.  It got 39% of the vote.  Barbecue sauce is next at 13%, then Worcestershire sauce at 10%.  5% said ketchup is best.

3.  9% of us don’t like any kind of seasoning on our steak when we cook it.  Everyone else either said steak seasoning, or salt and pepper.

4.  The best way to cook a steak is on the grill.  It’s the #1 choice by far.  Cooking it in a pan is second, and in the oven is third.

5.  Steak is also our FAVORITE food to grill.  Chicken is next, then burgers, hot dogs, and ribs.

6.  Medium rare is still the most popular way to order steak in a restaurant.  8% said rare or “blue rare,” which is almost raw . . . 35% said medium rare . . . 21% said medium . . . 22%, medium well . . . and 14% like their steak well done.

7.  Our favorite side to have with steak is a baked potato.  The rest of the top five are mashed potatoes, salad, asparagus, and bread or bread rolls.

8.  Just under half of us would eat steak at least three times a week if we could.  That’s if health and money weren’t an issue.

9.  64% would choose steak as their final meal.  Or it would at least be included, like maybe a surf-and-turf scenario.
